The VP, Underwriting will provide Underwriting and Portfolio Management services to the Middle Market Banking Division and focus on C&I Lending. 


  • Monitor/analyze existing clients
  • Promptly Risk Rate credits upon receipt of financials
  • Working with RMs, manage collection of financials and other monitoring documents
  • Test covenants and manage borrowing bases
  • Underwrite new money opportunities ensuring that policies are followed
  • Coordinate closing activities with loan closers
  • Work closely with RMs, Credit and legal to ensure timely client response while maintaining sound credit standards
  • Work with more junior team members to coach and mentor them


  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in underwriting with a bank or commercial finance company
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and other pertinent credit information and make credit recommendations
  • Strong writing and verbal skills required
  • Experience with spreading financial statements
  • Ability to engage across functions and clearly communicate reasons why decisions were made
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment with multiple talks and deadlines
  • BS degree required, preferably with a major in Finance or Accounting
  • Technical skills in financial statement analysis, risk analysis and legal contract requirements
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface with executive management, customers, attorneys and peers
