    Under general direction of the Director, manages and performs commercial loan reviews, ensures risk ratings have been assigned accurately and timely, that commercial loans adhere to general loan policy and to regulatory guidelines: prepares reports and work papers recapping discussions with Business Unit Management, Credit Administration, and other units or functional areas under review to present finds and secure commitments for resolution of areas in question.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Review, analyze and risk rate large complex Commercial lending transactions. Ability to communicate analysis results to Senior Management
    • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following lending disciplines: C&I, Communications Media, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Energy, Transportation, Trade Finance, Vendor Finance, Marine Finance and Construction Lending including comprehension of risks and market conditions
    • Recommends enhancements to the risk-based commercial loan review program.
    • Manages and performs commercial loan reviews (both periodic on-site and ongoing desk reviews). Ensures key planning, fieldwork and report issuance dates are met.
    • Monitors loan review process to assess commercial portfolio risk levels. Provides operational direction to outside vendors, contractors, and staff performing commercial loan reviews.
    • Ensures that commercial loan reviews adhere to general loan policy; completes loan reviews in adherence with established commercial loan review procedures and regulatory guidelines.
    • Prepares reports and work papers detailing findings and holds discussions with unit management, senior management, Credit Administration, and other units or functional areas under review. Secures commitments for resolution for areas in question.
    • Performs follow-up to resolve and validate open issues noted during reviews or by internal/external entities
    • Promotes and maintains positive relationships with unit managers; provides information and assistance when appropriate.
    • Ensures that appropriate Risk Management policies, procedures, processes, and standards are incorporated into daily assignments and work flow   processes and is responsible for maintaining high levels of awareness as related to the company’s Risk Management policy.
    • Maintain relevant knowledge of key legal, compliance and market-risk issues involved in credit related activities
    • Performs continuous monitoring of key business unit credit related activities and effectively documents and communicates findings to Management.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or related field OR any combination of training, education, or experience
    • A minimum of 5+ years demonstrated successful experience in large-dollar commercial loan review, underwriting or portfolio management of a commercial/wholesale lending portfolio, or comparable as a consultant or financial regulator with primary responsibility emphasis in the assessment and performance of commercial lending programs
    • Proven project management skills and abilities
    • Specific experience in the following areas of commercial lending: risk rating, loan underwriting,
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills
    • Ability to function efficiently in a team environment
    • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
