Responsibilities

This position will assist and provide a range of legal support and administration to legal counsel on litigation, supporting subpoena/discovery responses related to commercial and consumer banking litigation researching loan origination and servicing files and transactions. The essential functions of the job will primarily include: - Assisting legal counsel with the management of litigation matters, projects, document reviews, and related matters;
- Managing third party subpoena intake and responses, including opening new matters in the matter management/e-billing system, drafting responses and collecting documents in response to subpoenas, and coordinating witness testimony as necessary;
- Researching, investigating, analyzing and ensuring timely responses to claims, complaints, subpoenas and other legal process served on the bank;
- Assisting in the processing of new complaints and creating opening new matters in the matter management/e-billing system, so they may be adequately tracked, updated and reported;
- Supporting the response to discovery demands;
- Supporting the research, collection, and preparation of responses to audit, due diligence, regulatory exams, investigations, and other information requests and inquiries;
- Preparing and processing of legal settlements and disposition reports;
- Interfacing with outside counsel, internal clients, and customers, as appropriate;
- Providing assistance with certain aspects of matter management/e-billing; including calendaring events and deadlines
- Preparing initial draft legal hold notices for attorney review, releasing legal hold notices, and assisting with legal hold management;
- Supports the Chief Litigation Paralegal;
- Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Paralegal Certificate and/or 4-6 years of equivalent legal experience
- Prior experience working with the financial services industry or mortgage industry
- Prior in-house experience a plus
- Knowledge of civil litigation and legal processes preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with electronic matter management and invoicing systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently but take direction as required
- Advanced organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills
