• Provide transactional legal support to CIT Commercial Services, including documenting domestic and international factoring transactions, documenting receivables purchase transactions, assisting in portfolio maintenance matters and advising with respect to supply chain finance transactions and asset-based lending transactions
• Assist with the structuring of new business transactions
• Advise on a variety of issues involving creditors’ rights with an emphasis on trade creditors’ rights
• Endeavor to provide legal support to CIT Commercial Services without significant reliance on outside counsel and if outside counsel is used, manage outside counsel to provide quality and cost-effective representation
• Respond to day-to-day issues arising within the segment and provide guidance and recommendations for problem resolution in a manner that appropriately balances legal risk and business unit needs


• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
• Minimum of 10 years of experience
• Admitted to practice in New York or registered as in-house counsel in New York
• Experience with factoring (including Factors Chain International transactions), receivables purchase, supply chain finance, and asset-based lending transactions strongly preferred
• Experience with commercial workouts, trade creditors’ rights and commercial bankruptcies preferred
• Experience working as inside counsel for a regional commercial bank or commercial finance company preferred
• Experience working directly with internal clients, including senior management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex legal information to a diverse audience
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both legal and business colleagues, including a team of paralegals supporting CIT Commercial Services
• Willingness to learn new subject matter areas or work on special projects outside of attorney’s primary area of responsibility
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to make timely sound decisions and manage multiple projects
• Successful applicant must possess highest level of integrity, initiative, and resilience
