Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for: 

  • Providing quality and consistent underwriting of mortgage loans, focusing on highly complex loans, to ensure compliance with appropriate company standards.
  • Assessing the borrower(s) ability to repay, including validation of the borrower(s) employment, income, credit, assets and collateral as well as clearing any applicable underwriting conditions.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of all agency and investor underwriting guidelines and credit overlays.
  • Providing high quality customer service, including underwriting to the companies' service level expectations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years recent mortgage underwriting experience
  • Exposure to mortgage underwriting at a national level and in multiple markets
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with front line business unit
  • Proficiency with Desk Underwriter (DU)
  • Experience with conventional and jumbo loan underwriting
  • VA certification and experience preferred but not required
  • DE certification a plus
